Minutarian Week 41: April 11, 2022

Looking forward to a beautiful week ahead here in the best part of Florida, which happens to be the best state in the greatest nation. How lucky are we?

Rotarians from all over our district have been doing amazing things to support the people of Ukraine in their time of need.

This past weekend, Rick Fabiani and the great Gainesville Rotary club put together an amazing project that will provide personal protection equipment for fire fighters and emergency responders.

A very loud thank you to:

Peter Alcorn for donating the over 300 units of firefighter turnout-bunker gear consisting of jackets, trousers, suspenders, gloves, helmets, and boots.

Senator Aaron Bean for making the introduction to The Office of the CFO of the State of Florida, Jimmy Patronis, which includes The Bureau of Fire Standards & Training and Florida State Fire College Assistant Director JoAnne Rice, State Fire Marshall’s Office, for making the introduction to Peter Alcorn.

Rick Fabiani and the team of Greater Gainesville Rotarians for inventorying the equipment, packing the boxes, and loading the truck.

Ilya Soroka and his team with the truck. Ilya has recently returned from Ukraine and is the son of Sergay Soroka of the Jacksonville Downtown Rotary Club.

This equipment was taken to the Jacksonville Ukraine Relief Warehouse on Atlantic Blvd.-29 South Arlington Road- to be palletized and made ready for shipment to Poland for ultimate delivery into Ukraine.

Pic of the Week:

I had the opportunity a couple of weeks ago to go and visit my old high school, to celebrate the installation of the new Interact Officers at Flagler Palm Coast High School. They didn’t have an Interact Club back when I attended school there (it was a few years ago). Fortunately for these kids, the Rotary Club of Flagler County came along and created an awesome club there. Great work to all!
