Minutarian Week 40: April 4, 2022

April Showers bring May Flowers. Actually, there was a lot of rain we just had and I’m not sure the flowers are going to be able to wait until May. Here we are in April, rounding the final turn of our Rotary year.

An Update on Our Ukraine Relief Efforts

A total of $20,000 in cash donations has been collected into the 501(c)(3) York Foundation, Inc. from the D6970 Family of Rotary so far and has already been sent to the Rotary team in Warsaw, Poland to assist in their multitude of humanitarian initiatives. This is in addition to The Rotary Foundation Ukraine Disaster Relief Program that is also underway and as of Friday has collected over $74,000 according to PDG Jeanette Loftus!

Body armor has been donated by the Rotarians in Gainesville Sunrise and has already been delivered to aid workers in Ukraine.

A 747 cargo plane has been made available to our District 6970 Emergency & Disaster Relief-Recovery Committee for the movement of large amounts of medical and other critical supplies to be flown from Louisville, Kentucky to Warsaw, Poland during the week of 11 April 2022.

If you have access to significant amounts of medicine, food, hygiene, or bedding supplies, please contact pem@axisp.com or text (904) 534-0035 so that arrangements can be made to bring items to a centralized warehouse at 29 South Arlington Road, Jacksonville, FL 32216.

It’s requested that the donated supplies be in the warehouse on the morning of Thursday, April 7th, so that they can be palletized and inventoried so that the transit papers are prepared before sending to the Louisville Airport in time for the Monday 11 April cargo flight to Warsaw, Poland.

As always, Rotarians are there to help and ensure that 100% of our donations are utilized to fund and provide assistance where and when needed.
