Minutarian Week 37: March 14, 2022

Alas, spring is in the air!

District Conference and Training Assembly April 29th & 30th.

Save the date! Registration will be open very soon. You won’t want to miss this live and-in-person opportunity to learn, network and be inspired. We have a great lineup of speakers and a very exciting agenda. Did I mention there would be pirates? There will!

Our Rotary International Conference in Houston is just around the corner.

Discounted pricing ends March 31st, so don’t miss out. We have over 100 Rotarians and guests registered from our district already! This places us number one in our zone and in second place for all districts world wide! This is sure to be a great experience this year and Houston is not too far away! I hope to see many of you in Houston this June!

Three Ways You and Your Clubs Can Support Ukraine.

The need is great and immediate.

1. Give through the Rotary Disaster Response Fund. Funds can be donated to RDRF between now and April 30th and all funds will be allocated to the Ukraine Fund.

Our District will be matching up to $50k of District Designated Funds towards that fund. Additionally, all donations between now and April 30th will also accumulate Paul Harris Fellow points, which will go towards your next Paul Harris Fellow level or Major Donor.

These donations will go towards a fund that will be distributed through $50k grants to clubs within the Ukrainian District and Districts that neighbor Ukraine and $25k grants for clubs in surrounding districts.

These donations should be made by individual Rotarians. To give, you can sign into your account at www.rotary.org or go to this link: Disaster Response Fund | My Rotary. If clubs wish to make a donation on behalf of multiple donors, they may use the multiple donor form. www.rotaryfoundation6970.org/foundation-forms/forms-ri-forms

2. Give through the York Foundation – Our York Foundation is a 501(c)3 and donations will be collected there and dispersed to Ukraine for a cause that our District leadership and Disaster Relief committee choose. Funds will be dispersed now and again later as more funds come in.

This fund is intended for clubs and individuals, Rotarians or not.

To give: Pay by check or PayPal payable to The York Foundation, Inc.
Send to Rotary District 6970 York Foundation, Inc.  P.O. Box 47195, Jacksonville Fl 32247
Note that payee instructions state: District 6970 Ukraine March 2022 Humanitarian Aid Fund and name of donor and Rotary-Rotaract Club.

Please indicate to whom and address that the receipt is to be sent with the name of the Family of Rotary organization along with email and phone contact information.

We have also set up a PayPal portal on our district website, rotarydistrict6970.org, where donations can be made directly from individuals or clubs.

3. Clubs and individuals can give in other ways of their choosing.

Clubs or individuals may have another way that they wish to contribute to the humanitarian efforts in Ukraine and that is just fine as well.

As the District Governor of District 6970, I am very proud of how generous our Rotarians are.

Pic of the Week:

More than half of the 2.5 million refugees fleeing Ukraine have arrived in Poland, where Rotary members are organizing shelter, transportation, and basic necessities for the incoming refugees.

Rotary Club Olzstyn is collecting and managing donations for refugees, primarily unaccompanied children, staying at Ostróda Camp. Within a few hours, four cars full of donated items were collected– including food, clothes, bedding, personal hygiene products, as well as some toys.
