Hey Mickey!
It is with a great deal of pleasure that I announce Mickey Ulmer from the Rotary Club of Flagler Beach, has been chosen by the Nominating Committee to be the District Governor for Rotary International District 6970 for the years 2024-25.
Mickey has been a member since 2003 and served as Club President of the Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise in 2018-19, Assistant Governor of Area 4 2019-present, District Rotary Leadership Institute Director 2020-present and as a member of the District 6970 Funds & Procedure Committee 2021-present.
District 6970 clubs nominated three outstanding candidates, all well qualified, to serve as District Governor for Rotary year 2024-25. We want to thank the Clubs, and particularly the outstanding Rotarians who were honored with their club’s nomination for their willingness to serve.
This year the Rotarians serving as members of the nominating committee were: Nominating Committee Chair PDG Jeanette Loftus (Flagler County), Charles Allen (Greater Gainesville), Bea Fore (South Jacksonville), Jared Dollar (Palatka Sunrise), Karen Weiss (Deland), and alternate member PDG Dave Faraldo (Orange Park). The committee prescribed to the best practices and principles of Rotary in executing their duties on the committee. Their task was made with professionalism and dedication to selecting the most qualified candidate from a pool of exceptional candidates and I commend them for a job well done.
Rotary Bylaws 14.020.8 allows for any club in the District that proposed a candidate has the right to challenge the selection of the nominating committee. The challenge must be submitted to the District Governor not more that fourteen days after publication of the announcement of the nominating committee selection. Therefore, any club wishing to submit a challenge must do so not later than December 2nd, 2021.
If no such challenge is received Mickey Ulmer will be declared the District Governor Nominee Designate and will serve as District Governor for Rotary District 6970 for Rotary Year 2024-2025 commencing July 1st, 2024 and ending on June 30th, 2025. Appropriate notification to the General Secretary of Rotary International will be made as prescribe by Rotary Bylaws 13.050.
