Volunteer of the Year Under 40

The City of DeLand recently honored several community members for their outstanding service and dedication.

Aaron Preston, past President of the Rotary Club of Downtown DeLand, was selected as Volunteer of the Year Under 40. A lifelong resident of West Volusia, Aaron is involved with several organizations including the Teen Center, Blake Memorial Baptist Church, West Volusia Neighborhood Center, DeLand Pride and of course, the Rotary Club of Downtown DeLand.

Aaron’s greatest passion is always helping those who sometimes need a hand-up.

Also nominated for Volunteer of the Year were Jaclyn Carrell and Marie Johnson, members of the Rotaract Club of DeLand.

The City of DeLand will honor Aaron, and Volunteer of the Year, Georgia Carter Turner, with plaques on the Walk of Fame on Monday, March 24 at 5:30pm. The Walk of Fame is located at the northwest corner of the famous Woodland Boulevard and New York Avenue in historic Downtown DeLand.

Congratulations to Aaron, Jaclyn, Marie, and the other nominees. Thank you for leading with a servant heart and living by the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”
